THE Supreme Court Thursday approved the scheme proposed by the Central Board of Secondary Education(CBSE) and Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) for tabulating the marks for Class XII students in order to declare their results.
As per CBSE's scheme, the Class 10 component (30%) based on the best three performing subjects in the Board exams; Class 11 component (30%) based on the final exam and the Class 12 component (40%) based on the unit test/mid-term/pre-boards will be counted for purposes of the final Class 12 results.
A bench of Justices AM Khanwilkar and Dinesh Maheshwari, however, said the CBSE and ICSE would need to also incorporate a provision for dispute resolution for students and specify the date for conducting optional exams for those who want a chance to improve their results.
Advocates appearing for both the Boards assured that these two aspects will be incorporated in the final scheme to be notified in due course.
The board exams were cancelled on June 14 by the Prime Minister's Office in view of the second wave of Covid19.
