Civil Justice

We Absolutely Deserve

Raju Z Moray

When we have toiled hard
With nothing much to gain
Life, as we know it
Becomes quite a pain

Since we are healthy
And someone else is sick
We criticize and comment
Without facing the music

We don't contest elections
Repeat platitudes by rote
It's just once in five years
Still, we don't bother to vote

Whoever is elected to rule
Hardly makes a difference
Our cellphone alone is
Our friend of substance

Our responsibility is limited
Just to have a good time
If our leaders do the same
Why should we give a dime?

Thus, if we introspect deeply
And dispassionately observe
We are governed by those
Whom we absolutely deserve.
