It is a charter of aspirations of over a billion people who currently live in India and those that have died here. .The Preamble was read out at all the protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 and National Register of Citizens in 2019, where people carried a copy of the Constitution as a totem of the protests..This is a demonstration of the trust that people repose even today in the Constitution. The government, and the constitutional functionaries who swear an oath to the Constitution must not forget it..There is a need for a popular resistance to this governmental provocation to delegitimise the Constitution because between the vicissitude of the politics, divisions of the society, and the marginalisation of fundamental rights, the Constitution remains the last bastion of hope for We, the People.
