Rengin Ergul
Rengin Ergül is a lawyer and human rights advocate focusing on refugee rights, the prohibition of torture, impunity, and prisoners’ rights. She has served as President of the Toplum ve Hukuk Araştırmaları Vakfı (Society and Legal Studies Foundation - TOHAV) (2018–2019), Board Member of the Özgürlük için Hukukçular Derneği (Association of Lawyers for Freedom - ÖHD) (2019–2021), Co-Secretary General of ÖHD (2021–2023), and currently serves on ÖHD’s Disciplinary Board. She provided legal counseling for Syrian refugees in a UNHCR project (2014–2016) and later worked as a legal expert and project coordinator on the legal value of the Istanbul Protocol with the Türkiye İnsan Hakları Vakfı (Human Rights Foundation of Turkey - HRFT) (2016–2018). She is a member of the European Association of Lawyers for Democracy & World Human Rights (ELDH), ÖHD, TOHAV, and a volunteer lawyer with HRFT. Since September 2023, she has been continuing her human rights work in Germany as a member of the Association for Democracy and International Law (MAF-DAD).
