PIL seeking inclusion of Bhagvad Geeta as part of school education dismissed by Allahabad HC as “misconceived”

The Allahabad High Court Thursday dismissed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking directions to teach “Bhagvad Geeta” as one of the subjects to students of all classes i.e. Basic Education to Higher Education “in the overall interest of society”.

A division bench of Justices Pankaj Mithal and Saurabh Lavania termed the petition “completely vague” and misconceived.

The bench, however, said that the petitioner, Brahma Shanker Shashtri, could approach the appropriate authority such as the Board of High School and Intermediate Education, Uttar Pradesh or any other Board or University concerned, which he considered proper for including it as a subject or as a part of the syllabus of one of the subjects.
