One more murder in Mumbai
One more politician dead
Doesn't really matter whether
Shot in the heart or head
The strategy is not new
Same old tried and tested
In super quick time cops claim
Shooters have been arrested
Convenient always to blame
Gang leaders already in jail
And claim they organised it
(Or someone who's on bail)
Funerals are turned into events
Everyone wants to be seen
The dead couldn't care less
If living ones love the screen
Opposition attacks the rulers
Allege many motives sinister
There's a predictable response
From a smiling Home Minister
Social media is overjoyed
When it gets such juicy fodder
In a chaotic, surreal world
Hot topic is law and order
This goes on for a few days
Till all exhaust their breath
Then it is business as usual
Until the next high profile death.
