Six months after Collegium recommendations for judges appointments to Delhi and Kerala HC, Centre approves some, leaves out others

THE Central Government on Monday notified a slew of appointments to the Kerala and the Delhi High Court after sitting over the appointment files for over six months.

Two judicial officers and two advocates have been appointed as Additional Judges of the Kerala High Court. They are-

  • Murali Purushothaman
  • Ziyad Rahman Alevakkatt Abdul Rahiman
  • Karunakaran Babu and
  • Dr. Kauser Edappagath

The Supreme Court Collegium had made a recommendation to this effect on 14.08.2020.

In so far as the Delhi High Court is concerned, the Centre appointed two advocates – Jasmeet Singh and Amit Bansal.

The remaining four lawyers – Tara Vitasta Ganju, Anish Dayal,  Amit Sharma and Mini Pushkarna – who were also been recommended by the Collegium have not been appointed as judges for reasons not available as of now.

The Collegium had made a recommendation for their appointment on August 17, 2020.
