THE Centre for Women and the Law ('CWL') and the Law and Society Committee at National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore in collaboration with The Leaflet Wednesday launched an edited volume of a book, 'The Gendered Contagion: Perspectives on Domestic Violence during COVID 19'.
This book highlighted a special issue of the Gender and Human Rights Law which was a publication series of the CWL, that had covered both collections of essays/articles as well as books/ monographs in the past.
CWL, in its statement, said the aim of this book was both to bring together diverse experiences of affected people and stakeholders working on gender and sexuality issues as well as reflect on how current legal frameworks like the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005 have played out during the current pandemic.
It sought to bring together different perspectives on domestic violence and the diverse issues being faced by gender and sexual minorities during the current time.
Indian lawyers, civil society members and grassroots activists contributed to the book.
It has been edited by Prof. Sarasu Esther Thomas (Registrar, NLSIU, Bangalore), Indira Jaising (Senior Advocate) and students, Akshat Agarwal, Manisha Arya, Prannv Dhawan and Vani Sharma.
