ANYTHING seems possible
For those who’re in power
Speaking truth to them
Is the need of the hour
Truth comes at a price
Mostly it’s too high
Therefore no one asks
How or why?
The power to appoint
Transfer, promote is fine
But it can well be used
To ensure toeing the line
And when such games
Are played by all sides
They seek to manipulate
Every one who decides
The decision makers
Are aware of their power
But who doesn’t wish
To climb atop the tower?
So a tweak here or there
A bit of a small favour
Is a good investment
In future to savour
Even the intelligent
And seemingly wise
Very quickly adapt to
The art of compromise
As a result they climb
While seniors languish
Merit being rewarded
Remains just a fond wish
Stalling recommendations
Delaying appointments
Is the standard procedure
To utilise disappointments
They easily sail through
Who’ve never rocked the boat
And kept many dark secrets
Inside their black coats
We the people will continue
Enjoying this democracy
And praying for justice from
Bench and bureaucracy
