Supreme Court’s Justice Shantanagoudar passes away

JUSTICE Mohan M. Shantanagoudar, a sitting judge of the Supreme Court, passed away yesterday evening after a prolonged illness. He was 62.

Justice Shantanagoudar was appointed as judge of the Supreme Court on February 17, 2017, and was due to retire on May 4, 2023.

Justice Shantanagoudar hailed from Karnataka. He served as Vice-Chairman of the Karnataka State Bar Council from 1991 to 1993 and as Chairman of the Karnataka State Bar Council during 1995 and 1996. He was the state Public Prosecutor from 1999 to 2002.

Justice Shantanagoudar was appointed as Additional Judge of the Karnataka High Court on 12.05.2003 and as Permanent Judge on 24.09.2004. Later he became the Chief Justice of the High Court of Kerala on 22.09.2016.
