ALLEGING harassment by the Shiv Sena-led Maharashtra government, actor Kangana Ranaut and sister Rangoli have filed a petition seeking to transfer as many as four criminal cases against them from Maharashtra to Himachal Pradesh.

In their plea, the duo has alleged that there will be a material threat to their life and property if the trials are conducted in Mumbai.

Kangana pointed out that she was called 'Haramkhor Ladki' by Sanjay Raut, who is a senior Shiv Sena leader and a member of Parliament. She also highlighted in her plea that the Shiv Sena-led Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had illegally demolished her Pali Hill bungalow and the demolition exercise had been termed illegal by Bombay High Court and smacked of malafide intentions.

The plea also stated that Ranaut was granted Y-plus category of CRPF security by the Home Ministry, proving that the petitioners faced a serious threat to life and property and if the trial of the cases was not transferred out of Mumbai, the petitioners' life would be at risk.

The criminal cases which are sought to be transferred range from allegations of promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of a class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs and criminal defamation.
