[dropcap]J[/dropcap]AMMU and Kashmir National Conference on Saturday demanded the immediate release of the party leaders including party president Dr Farooq Abdullah and vice president Omar Abdullah from continued detention.."The idea of secular and democratic India is in peril in this part of the country which is undergoing most traumatic phase of its history", the senior leaders said in a resolution adopted at a meeting at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan, Jammu this afternoon..Lamenting the detention of party leaders in the Valley, Jammu region and Ladakh, the party leaders said, "the prevailing situation is worse than the 1975 emergency with tragic difference of Jammu and Kashmir losing its identity and stature. The dejected people, irrespective of region and religion, are feeling deprived of their existence."."History will remember these as Himalayan blunders", they said, adding that muzzling the voice of people is a blot on the largest democracy of the world..The party leaders sought immediate release of the political leaders of all hues, especially in view of ensuing Eid and called for lifting the "siege in the dumbstruck state".
