[dropcap]T[/dropcap]HE Allahabad High Court held a special sitting on Gandhi Jayanti to hear a habeas corpus petition filed by the father of a missing Army soldier..A two-judge bench comprising Chief Justice Govind Mathur and Justice Vivek Varma issued a notice to the State of Uttar Pradesh and directed the Command Officer, Military Police, Police Station Cantt, Bareilly to appear before the court to provide all necessary details of the missing soldier..The court had earlier received a letter addressed to Chief Justice Govind Mathur by the father of a missing soldier, Updesh Singh—who is a resident of village Damowal in Hoshiarpur district of Punjab..Singh in his letter had stated that his son, Sepoy Rajat Singh, who was serving 28 Punjab Regiment at Pithoragarh has been missing since July 28, 2018. He alleged that his son was illegally deputed with Colonel (retd.) A. K. Dubey at Bareilly..Claiming that a first information report was registered in the case on July 30, 2019, at Police Station Cantt, Bareilly, he alleged that no concrete headway has been made to locate his son..Additional government advocate, Syed Ali Mortaza informed the court that a request from investigating agency to the Command Officer, Military Police, Cantt.
