Gone are the golden days
When our profession was truly noble
Now focus is on who brings
How much cash to the Bar's table
It was one thing to appear
For scoundrels,crooks,scallywags
Quite another to accept
Favours from tainted moneybags
O where are giants of yore
Who strode so majestic and capable?
Why are we now stuck with those
Licking crumbs off a corporate table?
They'll justify the money taken
By saying it's all for welfare and good
Losing Bar's status and prestige
Is a fact which may not be understood
If the bigwig seniors of the Bar
Feel charity is virtue, compassion a tribute
Let them not look here and there
Just dip into their own pockets and contribute..
