THIS WEDNESDAY, on November 5, 2025, The Leaflet will join in as a media partner with Moneylife Foundation for a lecture on data and privacy, titled ‘Our Data, Their Wealth’: Why Privacy is the New Currency. Moneylife Foundation is a non-governmental organisation geared towards spreading financial literacy and consumer advocacy.
The event, set to be hosted in Churchgate, Mumbai will feature advocate Murali Neelakantan, a dual qualified Indian advocate and English solicitor, and formerly the Global General Counsel of global pharmaceutical companies Cipla and Glenmark. Neelakantan’s wide expertise in cross-border deals is notable.
The lecture is set to raise crucial discussions on the ever-expanding commodification of personal information in the digital age, deconstruct how precisely data is monetised - or in other word, tracked, sold and used to influence what we see, buy and even believe.
The lecture is also set to explore how the commodification of data has increased exposure to identity theft, scams, and manipulation, and how precisely, in contemporary times, citizens could protect their privacy, identity and digital freedom.
Time for the lecture: 5 PM - 7 PM
Venue: Walchand Hirachand Hall, 4th Floor, Indian Merchant Chamber Building, IMC Marg, Churchgate, Mumbai - 400020
