The Law & Technology Column is formally launched today, 4 April 2026, by Mr. Nikhil Narendran, Partner – TMT & AI Practice at Trilegal.

The inaugural set of written contributions will be authored by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Gautam Patel (Retd.) and Prof. (Dr.) G. S. Bajpai, Vice Chancellor, National Law University Delhi.

We are also pleased to announce the Law & Technology Virtual Conversation Series. The inaugural episode will feature Mr. Akshay Jaitly, Co-Founder of Trilegal.

Focus

The Column focuses on technology as a legal and governance problem, examining how digital systems, platforms, data infrastructures, and automated decision-making reshape rights, regulation, institutional power, and accountability. It seeks to move beyond descriptive or techno-optimistic writing, prioritising analytical work grounded in law, policy design, and institutional consequences.

Aim and Scope

The Column aims to foster academic and policy-oriented engagement at the intersection of law and technology, with a particular focus on technology law and policy. Its objectives include:

  • Encouraging research and analysis in the field of law and technology

  • Providing a developing-country perspective on global challenges in technology law

  • Promoting comparative approaches that offer insights relevant to the developing world

Submissions

Submissions are invited from students, researchers, academicians, practitioners, policymakers, industry experts, and independent scholars, from India and internationally. Contributions may engage with technology law and policy, constitutional and administrative law, regulatory frameworks, comparative perspectives, and developing-world challenges, in line with the Column’s focus areas.

The Column publishes analytical articles, opinion pieces, explainers, case analyses, legislative trackers, and book reviews. Submissions must demonstrate originality, clarity of argument, and depth of engagement, and must comply with the Author Guidelines.

Authors are encouraged to discuss proposals with the Column Curator prior to submission at: harsh.gour@theleaflet.in.
