Illegal sand mining on Yamuna river bed: NGT seeks report from UP 

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]HE National Green Tribunal (NGT) has directed a joint committee comprising Member Secretaries from Uttar Pradesh State Pollution Control Board (SPCB) and State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA) to submit a report within a month on illegal sand mining on the Yamuna river bed.

The NGT panel headed by Chairperson Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel was hearing an application for remedial action against illegal sand mining on the river bed between Etawah, Jalaun and Auraiya districts of Uttar Pradesh.

A report submitted earlier by the SPCB and SEIAA claimed at there was no illegal mining.
