Hardik Satishchandra Shah, a 2010 batch IAS officer from the Gujarat cadre has been appointed private secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) on Thursday approved Shah's appointment to this effect. He is presently posted as deputy secretary in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).
Earlier, Shah served as private secretary to Prakash Javedkar, the Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
Shah will take over from a 1996 batch IAS officer of the Gujarat cadre, Rajeev Topno, who was appointed senior advisor to the World Bank Executive Director in June 2020.
Topno had joined the PMO as deputy secretary in 2009 when Dr. Manmohan Singh was the Prime Minister. PM Modi continued with him, appointing him as his private secretary.
