[dropcap]T[/dropcap]HE Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Prakash Javadekar has informed the Lok Sabha that a total 141 cases of poaching and trafficking of tigers from 2012 t0 2018 have been registered..Madhya Pradesh has topped in cases of poaching of tigers with a total of 31 cases followed by Karnataka and Maharashtra, which witnessed a total of 24 and 20 cases 0f poaching respectively..In Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Telangana and West Bengal only one case of tiger poaching was registered from 2012 to 2018, Javedekar said in response to a question by Member of Parliament (MP) Deepak Baij.Further, a total of 84 cases of seizures were reported during 2012-2018. In that too, Madhya Pradesh topped with 12 cases in the last six years followed by Uttarakhand and Assam with 11 and 10 cases respectively..On steps taken by the Government of India through the National Tiger Conservation Authority to check poaching, the minister said M-STrIPES (Monitoring System for Tigers Intensive-Protection & Ecological Status) an android application, which has three distinct modules namely the patrol, ecological and conflict module was being used.
