UGC tells higher education institutions to hold webinars to create awareness about NEP 2020
Published on

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has written to the Vice-Chancellors of all the universities asking them to conduct webinars and online activities to create awareness about the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
As per UGC, there is a need to create awareness about NEP 2020 amongst teachers, students, officials, and other stakeholders in the higher education system.
In order to reach out to all the stakeholders in the higher education system, the UGC has desired higher educational institutions to use various social media (Twitter, Whatsapp, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Youtube, etc), as well as print and electronic media in the dissemination of the NEP 2020.

UGC has also asked higher educational institutions to share the initiative taken in this regard on University Activity Monitoring Portal maintained by it.
The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday approved the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 replacing the thirty-four-year-old National Policy on Education (NPE), 1986.
NEP 2020 seeks to create a Higher Education Commission of India (HECI) as a single overarching umbrella body for entire higher education, excluding medical and legal education.
HECI to have four independent verticals – National Higher Education Regulatory Council (NHERC) for regulation, General Education Council (GEC) for standard-setting, Higher Education Grants Council (HEGC) for funding, and National Accreditation Council (NAC) for accreditation.
