THE Supreme Court Monday rejected a petition seeking directions to include"health" as a subject exclusively in the Union list and exclude it from the state list..A two-judge bench of Justices L Nageswara Rao and Hemant Gupta said the court could not pass such a direction which is essentially the domain of Parliament..Sujata Kohli, a former district judge, and the petitioner contended that the way states had mishandled the covid19 crisis, the "health" subject should exclusively be part of the union list..Besides, the petition sought a direction to set up a National Health Commission for India..The plea, however, did not find favour with the court which dismissed the plea with advice to the petitioner to approach the government with her suggestions.
