THE Supreme Court Friday directed the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) to postpone the INI CET Examination, 2021 by one month.
A vacation bench of Justices Indira Banerjee and MR Shah passed an order to this effect on a plea filed by 26 doctors (MBBS graduate) who had opted to sit for the Post Graduate Entrance Test-INICET for higher studies in the field of medicine.
The petitioners contended that advancing the INICET Examinationon to 16th June was in utter disregard of assurance given by the Prime Minister's Office while postponing the NEET-PG Examination, 2021 by four months.
It was also stated in the PMO's communication that students would be given atleast one month's time in order to prepare for the examinations. The communication added that medical personnel completing 100 days of COVID duty would be given the Prime Minister's COVID National Service Samman and also priority in government recruitment.
The plea alleged that holding INICET examination at this stage would amount to differentiation in terms of postponing one set of PG Examination for doctors while they are forced to take the INI-CET examination, which is in itself unreasonable and arbitrary and does not rest on any rational basis.
The plea was filed through Advocate-on-Record Pallavi Pratap.
