CJI led bench issues notice on PIL seeking protection of human rights of Armed Forces personnel

[dropcap]A[/dropcap] two-judge bench of the Supreme Court comprising Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi and Justice Sanjiv Khanna today, February 25, 2019 issued a notice on a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Kajal Mishra And Preeti Kedar Gokhale, daughters of army personnel seeking protection of Human Rights of Armed Forces personnel.

After hearing the counsel for the petitioner, the Court has issued notice to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Ministry of Defence (MoD), the State of Jammu and Kashmir and the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).

The Petition seeks for the formulation of a policy to safeguards the rights of Armed Forces Personnel against human rights violation by mob and stone palters while performing their duty.
