[dropcap]I[/dropcap]n a fresh development, Minal Gadling, the wife of advocate Surendra Gadling, on behalf of the five activists arrested on June 6, 2018 — including her husband Gadling, Professor Shoma Sen, Sudhir Dhawale, Mahesh Raut and Rona Wilson — has approached the Supreme Court seeking intervention in a petition filed by Romila Thapar and others.

In this application filed before the Supreme Court, she has stated that all the five persons including her husband have been falsely and maliciously implicated in connection with Bhima Koregaon violence, even when there is no involvement by them in the any such activity complained of in the FIR.
It is further stated in the application that all the five persons hold significant position in the society and have dedicated their lives for fighting social injustices. They are being targeted in this case for being the voice of dissent, and for taking up battles against forces perpetrating injustice, Minal Gadling has claimed.
The Petition stresses upon the fact that these arrests were preceded by raids at the residence of Surendra Gadling, Rona Wilson, and Sudhir Dhawale on April 17, 2018. Given that there was nothing incriminating in the seized material, none of them applied for anticipatory bail apprehending no arrest, nor they ever tried to escape or go underground or attempted to evade arrest in any manner. This rather underscores their innocence in every manner, says petition.
She has prayed for extending the benefit of Supreme Court’s order passed on August 29, 2018 in Romila Thapar case, to all the above-named persons who are under arrest since last two months.
