[dropcap]T[/dropcap]HE Supreme Court today declined to grant an urgent hearing on a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) petition filed by advocate M L Sharma seeking to quash the Presidential order of August 5, 2019, that did away with the special status accorded to Jammu and Kashmir.
Sharma mentioned his petition before Justice N V Ramana who questioned the urgency for listing the matter. The interaction that followed:
M L Sharma: Your Lordship, Pakistan is going to the United Nation (UN)
Justice Ramana: Is the UN going to stay the President’s order or the Constitutional amendment? What is this Mr Sharma?
Justice Ramana finally refused to pass any order for listing the petition.
