Gobble D. Gook is not surprised at the tussle between the Executive and Judiciary at the highest level regarding filling of vacancies in the High Courts and the Supreme Court because it has always been so..the big difference is that now all squabbles are in the open..the fig leaves have blown away..
A time may come when inaction in appointments will lead to desperation..And pressure to fill all vacancies,somehow,anyhow..This will inevitably result in compromises.And a whole lot of less than deserving handpicked candidates may occupy seats of judicial power for long tenures to carry on the Agenda of their benefactors long after they have faded into history..
Unfortunately, We the People may continue to think that as long as some ‘Justices’ warm all vacant seats,’Justice’ will be done..
This Lawmerick is Gook’s lament, not comment..
There is a huge mountain of vacancies to fill
And the process itself virtually at a standstill
As arrears mount
We have lost count
But from Men in Black we have high hopes still..
