We don’t know what is right;
But we can’t find
That steely resolve to fight
The Powers which
Bulldoze unpalatables with might.
It is not that
We don’t have sparks to light fire;
To discuss revolution
At coffee-tables we never tire.
But when Big Boss visits,
We stand, clap, gush, admire.
It is not that
Our laws on paper aren’t good;
The spirit of the Constitution
Was appreciated and understood.
But well-fed watch-dogs
Neither bit nor barked, just stood!
