CVC warns government departments against taking cognisance of anonymous corruption complaints

The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC), in its a circular, issued on Friday directed all ministries/departments/autonomous organizations to desist from taking cognisance of anonymous corruption complaints.

CVC Circular dated 24.09.2020

This followed instances wherein CVC noticed that some departments/ organisations were taking cognisance of anonymous complaints, despite strict guidelines issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) and the CVC.

“Such non-compliance/violation of guidelines by the concerned authorities would be viewed seriously,” said the order.

CVC also referred to its earlier circular issued on November 25, 2014, and the DoPT’s office order wherein CVC had directed that “no action would be taken on anonymous/pseudonymous complaints” by ministries/ departments/organisations.
