[dropcap]T[/dropcap]HE National Green Tribunal (NGT) has asked the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) to submit a factual and action taken report on the alleged illegal discharge of effluents and air pollution by industrial and other units in Village Jindpur, Alipur Division, Delhi.

A report submitted by the DPCC and sub-divisional magistrate before the NGT had stated that 13 units which were located in residential and non-conforming areas and operating without mandatory consent and requisite pollution control devices, had been closed.

The DPCC also informed the Tribunal that though it had imposed “environmental damages” on these units, only one unit had deposited the environmental compensation amount, assessed at Rs 11.42 crore, with the committee.
